I am a professional hairstylist. Why don't you post a picture of yourself and I can tell you more. It's hard to tell someone without first seeing how curly your hair is and what kind of texture you have.

~Well, since I don't have a picture, I'll give you some suggestions from experience. My brother and I both have very curly hair. My hair is long, when it is wet, it stretches out past my bra strap but when it dries, it shrinks up to my shoulders. On rainy or humid days, it can shrink up close to my and I have a really cute chin length bob! My brother's hair is a coarser texture than mine and I keep his cut really short. I use clippers and a # 2 and # 3 gaurd on the sides and I cut the top about 3/4 to 1 inch long. If his hair gets any length on it, it really bothers him.

I suggest that since you have curly hair, tell the stylist to cut your hair while it is dry to make sure it is the length that y ou want it to be. If it is wet, your curly hair will shrink and could be way too short when it dries. The style which are are describing can still look good even with your hair being curly. Just make sure it doesn't get cut too short. Show your stylist some pictures of the style you want in some books that I'm sure she has in her salon. When you get your hair cut, you'll need some kind of product to keep your hair from "poofing". I use and recommend Iso Bouncy Cream. The stuff is awesome for curly hair, you can get it from a salon or from that store they have in several malls, Trade Secrets. When you get the cut you want, don't try to straigten your hair, just go with the flow and let your hair do what it wants to do. I have found that it is much easier than fighting constantly to get your hair to do what it doesn't want to do. I've learned that from finally letting my hair go natural after trying to flat iron it every morning and then when it rained, all that hard work went down the drain as the wetness and humidity made my hair curl back up!

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me and I will try my best to help you out.~

If you don't like it curly ask the stylist to straighten it for you, either way you might wanna get that loose hair tied back with some kind of band and maybe slick it back.
