Highlight answers from someone with experience?

I'm gonna be getting my hair highlighted soon. This entire question thing is rather long, and composed of more than one question, but they're all simple to answer, I assume.

Alright, here are the questions

1. I was thinking about getting blonde highlights in my hair. I have naturally darkish brown hair, so they wouldn't be too bright. I'm getting it done at a hair stylist so they don't look like crap. My only question is, would the blonde highlights look too fake? And if you think they would, what other color should I get my hair highlighted?

2.Before I get my hair highlighted, I'm getting it cut. I'm just getting my bangs back. Normal bangs (not side swept or uneven), a little bit past my eyebrows. I was wondering, when I get my hair highlighted, should I highlight the bangs as well?

3. How badly will the highlights damage my already thin hair?

4. Can I get my hair cut and highlighted on the same day?

Thanks very much for any answers

1. No, blonde highlights will not look good on dark brown hair. You should instead ask for caramel highlights, which will look natural on your hair. Later on, you can go back for blonder highlights, which will then blend in with the caramel, which blends with the dark, got me?

2. How weird would your hair look if you got highlights all over and didn't get the bangs done?

3. All highlights will damage your hair to some extent. A good stylist/colorist will not destroy your hair.

4. Yes.

And I wanted to add a 5. in there just to give you some more reassurance. Someone who is experienced with highlights will know exactly what to do to make your hair look great if you tell them what you're looking for. First describe the haircut, and then say, "I really want to get highlights, but I don't know what would look good for me." They should take it from there. Also, don't do one or the other (cut or highlight) without explaining everything first. If the stylist isn't willing to listen, then you need to run, don't walk, away!

1, blonde is the best yo can get these days, red is tacky on brown, but black is goth, so blond is best

2don't hihglight the bangs, that would be kind of geeky, unless you have alot of bangs

3 highlights don't damage hair uless they are those acidy stuff

4 u can, never tried it, but u can, i usally get a cut, wait for it to grow into a more natrual hairstyle, then put the higlights in cause it looks weird to have highlights and a awakward cut.

1. The stylist will probably tell you, if natural is something you're going for, and you have naturally dark brown hair, blonde wouldn't look natural. Maybe dirty blonde if not light brown. Think about getting lowlights too, they're like highlights but a shade darker than your natural color. It would give your hair more depth.

2. If looking natural is what you're going for, then yes, get your bangs highlighted as well. In fact, getting them highlighted period is a good idea, because getting highlights around your face help frame it.

3. It won't be too bad, just don't make a habit out of constantly changing the color or bleaching it.

4. Yes, you can get it done on the same day, just make sure you have enough time. Maybe two hours.

Highlight answers from someone with experience?

1. yes the highlights would make your hair look fake, you should try a light shade of brown.

2. Yes or it won't look as natural.

3. It will just make it dry or thinner or possibly fall out thats why there a bad idea.

4. Yes but it will cost about $150.00

Glad to help

Try a lighter shade than your hair but not too bright of a blonde shade- then you can figure out if you want to lighter at a later time. Your hair stylist will be able to help you pick out the right shade to try out.

Yes, you'd get your hair colored/highlighted first, then cut.

Remember, the fun thing about hair is you can try something out, and if you don't like it, you can always change it in a relatively short amount of time.

I just recently got my hair highlighted and cut. For your first question, If your hair is dark, i wouldn't go to light with the blonde or it will look like a skunk. I had dark hair to when I highlighted mine and I did some blonde highlights and a few darkesh red ones. It looks really good together. It looks more natural than just doing the all out blonde. For the second question, definetly do your bangs to, it won't look bad. Highlights dont damage your hair as much as completely dyeing it so your fine, dont worry about it damaging your hair. And for your last question, its better to get it cut and highlighted on the same day cause by cutting it, you get rid of all the dead hair and split ends so it wont damage your hair since its already cleaned up. Hope this helps you and good luck with your hair.
